Aldrich was there making 5 of us. We sawed a load of stove wood
out of a dry maple in the west part of the sugar bush for Susan
Baldwin. In the morning before meeting Ira talked with me &
made up his mind to marry Mary Brock which I suppose they will
consumate next 5th day. As time moves on how many changes are
taking place Never to be unchanged. 26th of the month they
accordingly were married at her mothers in Southfield by Dr. Hase.

Brings me to my 55th year. I have been very lame with the
rheumatism for a week. Was a little better. I helped James Neviss
& Otis clean out the cistern. Allen Johnson took my team &
went to Canad with flour & c for himself & Neviss. We
drawed out some manure into the East part of the orchard & set
out 2 squares of apple trees with current bushes. This was 7th day
of the week.

I have now completed my 56th age. Have felt for the last month
unusually well particularly clear from the rheumatism which to me
is a great favor.
This Birth day occured on 1st day of the week. As usual I
attended meeting And the solemn thoughts of improving the coming
year to the best improvement was my thoughts & meditations as
life wanes away.
This was a great spring for making sugar & I assisted in the
P.M. & evening to boil the sap. We made about 700 lbs. of
sugar. I had split this spring 3500 rails 1000 of which was for
Ira. James Nevitt & Allen Johnson did the work. I cleared off
the North piece of Iras new And built a new fense through the
middle of the 20 acre piece joining Conroys line And another round
the bank by the old house.
