Closes my 69th year. 3rd day of the week. I now enter on my 70th
year with solemn thoughts of the future. This is so many more years
than few people live to see. But I am yet spaired to finish what
remains of life to be done. And O that I may be faithful to fulfill
all that may be for me to accomplish. Patience health is so poor
that she is hardly willing for me to leave home. I have not been to
Quarterly Meeting for the the last year. It seems hard that I
cannot mingle with my friends more often. I am alone this spring
and last winter. George Allen left me 3rd of July last. Went from
Detroit to live with one Brask west of Northville. I worked with
Otis and drawed out stone into the road for his cellar. Took these
out west side of the 10 acre meadow where I had sowed 3 acres of
spring wheat and also in the peach orchard just at right. Cleared
out the stone from off that acre. It has been cold up to the 20th.
Grass did not start until the 8th of 4th mo. George Mathews was
buried on the 22nd. Was 71 years old.

This day completes my 70th year. I awoke this morning in deep
solemnity in reflecting that my years had rached so far beyond the
common age of Man. Solemn the thought that I have been spared while
nearly all my Relatives have been called from this life to their
final home.
I felt this morning to dedicate myself to my God anew and afresh
for the few remaining days that may be allotted me to be spent in
the cause of truth & righteous. I have reflected much and
thought on the words of the 10th verse of the 90th Psalm. We have
been very much tried this winter with Philip Brown's ill & evil
conduct towards us and in our family. He is now moving away to
Livonia & we hope to have peace & quiet once more in our
house. Sister Rachel S. Beal has been with us several days. Was to
of went with me to visit Gideons folks but not being well did not
go. So I took in little Elisabeth & spent my Birthday with
Gideons folks a little west of Nichols corner. A day of much
solemnity to me. O Lord help me to live as I should the remainder
of my days.
