10th mo. 3rd, 1864

I started in company with Richard Williams & his daughter Abine to attend the Farmington Quarterly Meeting held at Wheatland 18 miles south of Rochester. It has been 38 years since I had visited my native state. I was prompted to goe to doe what I could to induce The Farmington Quarterly to unite with Adrian, and the 3 Quarters in Canada to set up a new Yearly Meeting in the province. The prospect of bringing about our desired object was not very promising.

I went no further. Was gone but 6 days.

At the Adrian Quarterly Meeting held 12th mo. 28th, 1864 The subject of uniting with the 3 Quarters in Canada for a new Yearly Meeting was fully discussed and resulted in the appoint of a committee of 5 persons Viz: Nathan Power, Edward Underwood, Joseph Gibbons, Wm. Beal & Richard Williams to attend the Quarters in Canada & see if they would change their site from Pickering to Norwich.
